Spineless Dems, Always Protecting the Monkey

baaaaSpineless!

The pattern is sickeningly familiar, and always the same.

After a bunch of squawking by “outraged” dem leaders who then promise to “never” back down from their opposition to the moronic monkey, they…… suddenly lose any trace of outrage and do exactly what Chimpy wants them to do.

The telecom immunity Chimpy is so adamant about isn’t just for his cronies in the telecoms. You better believe that the moronic monkey is also seeking retroactive immunity for HIMSELF by immunizing the instruments of his lawbreaking. Back when we had a functioning Government, there’s a pretty good chance that a suggestion that illegal wiretappers be given immunity from prosecution would have been laughed out of the Capitol. Now, all we have is “20% approval” Chimpy, and a bunch of invertebrate democrats who act like Chimpy is some kind of an earthly Deity not to be defied.

The right votes were cast in 2006, but they were clearly cast for the wrong people. We have to correct that mistake this election cycle, and send Chimpy’s enablers out of office right alongside the monkey himself. He’s got 90,000 acres in Paraguay, more than enough space to accommodate his dem buddies.

The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee hinted Sunday that a battle over an expired eavesdropping law might be moving toward a conclusion that gave phone companies the retroactive legal protections long sought by President Bush.

The chairman, Representative Silvestre Reyes, Democrat of Texas, said in an interview on CNN that the committee had been talking to the companies “because if we’re going to give them blanket immunity, we want to know and understand what it is we’re giving immunity for.”

Mr. Reyes did not specify what provisions a House bill might contain. But his use of the words “blanket immunity” suggested that he might be moving toward a Senate bill, backed by Mr. Bush, that would protect phone companies that assisted in a federal program of wiretapping without warrants after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

“I have an open mind about that,” Mr. Reyes said.

“We’re very close,” he added. “Probably within the next week, we’ll be able to move hopefully to bring it to a vote.”

The eavesdropping law, which expired Feb. 16, made it easier for the government to initiate wiretaps without court approval. Mr. Bush has said its expiration creates a national security risk, while Democrats say the government can continue current wiretaps and start new ones through other legal means.

The main point of the dispute over renewing the legislation concerns whether to immunize phone companies from at least 40 lawsuits that allege their actions after 9/11 violated privacy laws.

“They’re getting sued for billions of dollars and it’s not fair,” Mr. Bush said on Feb. 25. “And it will create doubt amongst private-sector folks who need to help protect us.”

Mr. Bush has also said that allowing the lawsuits to proceed could disclose government secrets and damage national security.

Oh boo frigging hoo, you inbred stump of afterbirth that somebody forgot to toss. When in the FUCK does somebody care about being fair to the CITIZENS again?

Pelosi and Reid think they are so special that their little power jobs will always be there, to hell with the people.

They may as well join Bush’s cabinet, they already hold unofficial positions in his lap.

Lest we forget, the defining characteristic of a fascist regime is that the government acts at the behest of the corporatocracy. This isn’t about whether the corporations are going to co-operate with government, rather the other way around. Why can’t the so-called opponents of this measure find their way through to this simple, effective and obvious framing of the issue?

I saw a picture of Bush leaning over Pelosi somewhere. You’d swear you were looking at a monkey staring at a cobra from the expression on her face.
‘Framing’. Well, well… those articles at dKos,Needlenose,Last Left Turn B4 Hooterville and so on must have registered with someone. Anyone who’s lost on this topic should chase down “Moving the Overton Window” ( yeah, it isn’t as catchy as Moving the Goalposts ) and maybe an article on Logical Fallacies.
I’ve called this lot the Fourth Reich for a while now. There’s less disagreement every day.

SBT, you better believe it. That is Mussolini’s own definition.
