Mr. President, Are You Listening?

The people are speaking, loudly and clearly.

Forget about the “this is a conservative country” bullshit the MSM is constantly pushing, and listen to the people.

We voted for you for a lot of reasons. But the one reason that trumped all the other ones is that a lot of us are sick of right wing stupidity.

It’s true. You don’t have to take my word for it though.

According to the poll, 51 percent of African-Americans say Obama’s presidency has brought some improvement in race relations in the U.S., but only 18 percent feel it’s the start of a new era. Another 23 percent say they’ve seen a real change in race relations over the past 11 months and 7 percent say things have gotten worse.

The survey indicates that three-quarters of blacks believe race relations will improve eventually, which is up from 49 percent of blacks who felt that way a year before Obama was elected.

“Whites take a dimmer view of Obama’s effect on race relations, with a third believing that the new presidency has not changed race relations in the country and 15 percent of whites saying that Obama has made race relations worse,” Holland added. “Not surprisingly, whites are less supportive of Obama, although for a notable number of whites, their negative view of the president is due to the perception that he’s not been liberal enough.

Take a couple of left turns. Restore the promise of America to Americans. And never forget that the greatest liberal President of all time was re elected not once, but 3 TIMES.

Even a lot of white folks want it. Make it so :)

I think posts like this bear repeating every once in a while. I get to almost believing that liberal/progressive Dems are a tiny little minority when it seems that most of what I read in the MSM is rightwing bullcrap.

Then I tell myself, no, a majority elected Obama and the Dems on his semi-liberal platform.

Then I tell myself, yeah, but people are so disillusioned that maybe support has fallen off.

Then I remind myself how, a couple weeks ago I vowed to never vote for Obama or another Democrat unless they were a proven progressive.

Then I blush for being such a boob, because I will vote Democratic every time rather than let any Republicans, who have proven how much they hate the American people, get power. Never again, not if I can help it.

P.S. — Yeah, Mr. President and all Democrats! What JR said.

  2. TomCat Says:

Good point, JR. When Reich-wing pundits talk about the public being against Obama, they imply that the publuc agrees with them. That’s BS! Much of the disapproval comes from progressives disappointed that he has governed from the right, not from the center as he promised.

This is a great subject and you make good points. Keep it up!

You know, race relations should be improved but thanks to many angry whites it has gotten much worse and will get much worse yet. In case I do not see you tomorrow I want to wish you a Happy New Year!

Even if he is a total failure, his election is an achievement. We have come a long way. We have a long way to go.
The 3/5 compromise in the original constitution was a great error. We paid for it in rivers of blood. Now look at us. A dark skinned American is President.
What pisses me off is that he is wasting the opportunity to lead, really lead us.
I’m a lily white conservative, but I am dying for a leader. Obama could be that man, if he would just make good on his campaign promises. I don’t agree with all those promises, but if he would just do it, I would follow him as a man of integrity.
Let’s give change a chance to succeed or fail on its own merits.

Jim, I feel the same way. If Paul had actually made it anywhere, I’d have certainly been willing to listen to what he has to say. Why? Because the guy tells the truth, and he clearly isn’t co-opted by anybody.

  7. Bee Says:

    Good post.

The white backlash against the black president (and I believe that most of what we’ve seen this year has been just that, given teabaggers and whatnot), shows that we’ve got a hell of a long way to go regarding race relations.

  8. JollyRoger Says:

The number of whites who approve of the President is 42%.

The MSM seems to not want to put this in perspective, so I will. I can give it perspective easily, simply by reminding you that the President only got 45% of the white vote.

The people who were always against the President still are. Amazing, that is…
