What Goes With Religion Like Thunder Goes With Lightning?
For clues, let’s have a look at this Pew poll. No spoilers here; you know what this poll says even if you haven’t seen it yet.
Mississippi stands out on all four measures, and several other Southern states also rank very high on the measures. For example, on the first measure, more than eight-in-ten people in Mississippi (82%) say religion is very important in their lives, making the Magnolia State the most religious according to this measure. In some other Southern states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee and South Carolina, at least seven-in-ten people also say so. At the other end of the spectrum, fewer than four-in-ten people living in New Hampshire/Vermont (36%) and Alaska (37%) say religion is very important to them.
Hmmm….. now let’s see… what ELSE are Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, and South Carolina well known for?
Say what you want to about the “hedonism belt.” You actually EAT there most of the time.
Alaska is the biggest curiosity. How could Alaska have ever elevated a wild-eyed Jesusistan nut like Caribou Barbie to the Governor’s office? All that !@#$!@ talks about is Jesus (her version, of course: the one who despises the poor and minorities and loves war.)

Screw the asshats who prattle on about those “elitist college educated folk,” and screw anyone who IS educated who actually lets the mouthbreathers make them feel bad for BEING educated. Education = possible freedom from religious fanaticism. Note I say possible – it’s not a cure-all, but it sure as hell helps. Poverty breeds ignorance which breeds religious belief which breeds feelings of inadequacy which feeds religious extremism which feeds…well, you get the point.

God loves killing his creatures as much as his creatures love killing each other. Seems God bred his own pleasures into his lowly creations.
