Now, It’s McCain’s Turn

Mr. Maverick had to have seen this one coming, and he has (mostly) nobody but himself to blame for it.
By pandering to the knuckle-dragging lunatic fringe (best known as the Rushpubliscum “base,”) via the selection of Caribou Barbie as a running mate, McCain let a genie out of the bottle that wasn’t going to go back in. The genie wrought havoc in NY-23 (where the simpleton tool Doug Hoffman is now whining that ACORN done stole his election,) and the genie is also hard at work in Florida, threatening the campaign of Charlie Crist. The genie used a brickbat on Arlen Specter, driving him over to the dems, and the genie intends to have the hides of Snowe, Collins, and maybe even Lindsey Graham before he’s through.
Oh, yeah…. and McCain’s hide as well. Since McCain’s campaign pushed the Rushpubliscums even further over to the lunatic side of the equation, there will be few Rushpubliscum candidates that get past the primary cycle now who aren’t sufficiently stupid ideologically pure. Johnny, who is guilty of some unforgivable past transgressions (e.g. working with the Devil himself, in the humanform of Russ Feingold,) is therefore very vulnerable to a challenge from the lunatics of the Rushpubliscum “base” in Arizona, where they are as numerous as cactus plants.
I gotta say, so what if he loses? Trading a corrupt asshole for a crazy asshole still leaves Arizona with an asshole in the Senate.
Arizona Sen. John McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, could face a strong primary challenge in his 2010 reelection effort: A new Rasmussen Reports poll finds McCain in a virtual tie with a conservative Phoenix radio host and former Congressman J.D. Hayworth.
Hayworth has expressed interest in running against McCain, but he has not announced that he will do so. The former Congressman got 43 percent support in the survey of likely Republican primary voters, while McCain got 45 percent. Four percent went to former Minutemen leader Chris Simcox.
McCain leads among the state’s Republican women, while Hayworth leads among men.
Rasmussen points out that a September poll found that while 75 percent of Republican primary voters expect McCain to win the nomination, 61 percent feel he has lost touch with the members of his party.
Yes, it’s a Rasmussen poll, and yes, they have clearly had an agenda for a long time now, but it’s still significant that ANY poll can show the Rushpubliscums are apparently readying to hand McCain his head.
If a reliable right-winger like McCain is in trouble, I can hardly wait to see what the next Rushpubliscum Caurcass looks like.
