OK, I’m Getting Uncomfortable Now…

What in the HELL is he up to?

In decades of watching this sick little toad, I’ve never found anything to agree with him on. And now, we agree TWICE in just the last few days?

There are ironies here that should not go unnoticed by the average schmuck who might get taken in by the chameleon’s latest skin change. You know that radical, religious-bigoted, homophobic, racist Rushpubliscum Party? Newt had a HUGE hand in creating it. This guy has been disparaging minorities and spewing “JESUS!” for a long time now. He was doing it back when he served his cancer-stricken wife with divorce papers. He was doing it when he voted to impeach President Clinton for his dalliances with an intern-in spite of being engaged in THE EXACT SAME BEHAVIOR himself at THE EXACT SAME TIME. He’s been doing it almost nonstop since he left Congress back in 1998.

And now, all of a sudden, he’s turned all moderate on us? He doesn’t like Glenn Beck, who is more or less the embodiment of the Rushpubliscum Party that Newt created?

We should all keep an ear open to hear just how “moderate” Newt becomes over the next year or so. I have a feeling he isn’t done just yet.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has been taking fire from conservative activists and far-right Republican leaders for endorsing Dede Scozzafava, the moderate GOP candidate running in the special election in New York’s 23rd district. These “purists” — including Sarah Palin, Tim Pawlenty, Dick Armey, and Bill Kristol — are backing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman, revealing a wider rift within the conservative movement: the tea-party activist base versus “Big Tent” Republicans.

Gingrich explained his support for Scozzafava at a book signing event yesterday: “She is the nominee of the local party, my bias is to be for the nominee of the local party, and I don’t second guess the local party.” On his Fox News program yesterday, Glenn Beck attacked Gingrich. “I couldn’t disagree more with you on this one,” Beck said, arguing, “You vote with a person you agree with most…and it doesn’t matter what party they’re in.”

Last night on Fox News’ On the Record, host Greta Van Susteren asked Gingrich about the “heat” he’s been getting for endorsing Scozzafava, especially from Beck. Gingrich fired back, saying the right-wing support for Hoffman is based on “misinformation” and an abandonment of conservative values:

GINGRICH: I just find it fascinating that my many friends who claim to be against Washington having too much power, they claim to be in favor of the 10th Amendment giving states back their rights, they claim to favor local control and local authority, now they suddenly get local control and local authority in upstate New York, they don’t like the outcome. [...]

So I say to my many conservative friends who suddenly decided that whether they’re from Minnesota or Alaska or Texas, they know more than the upstate New York Republicans? I don’t think so. And I don’t think it’s a good precedent. [...]

And so this idea that we’re suddenly going to establish litmus tests, and all across the country, we’re going to purge the party of anybody who doesn’t agree with us 100 percent — that guarantees Obama’s reelection. That guarantees Pelosi is Speaker for life. I mean, I think that is a very destructive model for the Republican Party.

Newt was a pretty damned destructive model himself, which is one of the reasons he stepped aside. The Rushpubliscums he left behind him, though…. they are pretty much cut from the same racist, corrupt cloth. Caribou Barbie….. she’s almost a Newt dream. Stupid, Narcissistic, and corrupt as it gets-that’s Newt’s Rushpubliscum model, for sure.

He wouldn’t be sniping at his de facto disciples without a pretty good reason. I think we can divine what that reason is.

Funny how with that group of assholes the Newt can masquerade as a moderate.Smart.Transparent,but only to those with an IQ above room temperature.

I think Gingrich is still smarting because, for all the sniffing and hinting around the edges he did in 2007-2008, hoping for a groundswell of support to develop backing him for president, he was largely ignored and irrelevant. He’s got an ego that’s right up there with Bill Clinton’s, so you can imagine his chagrin level. So, there’s a chance he’s trying to remodel his image.

It wouldn’t be the first time. I remember a brief (about 10 days) interlude where Gingrich made a big show of burying the hatchet with Clinton, pledging to find areas where they could work together. That was after a harsh public reaction to one the unconstitutional government shutdowns Gingrich orchestrated. I think it went the way of several of Gingrich’s marriages when he had to sit in the back of Air Force 1 with the riff-raff.

I’m not 100 percent sure, but I have a strong hunch that if someone could do a bunch of research, they’d find Gingrich actively supported hustling Republicans considered too moderate and too willing to compromise with Democrats out of their House seats, in part by supporting primary challengers.

In any case, in all things what must be remembered about Gingrich is that no matter how he bloviates about Republicanism and conservatism, his first priority is promoting himself.

Trying to appear moderate for 2012. Probably won’t help him with the Bible Spice and Huckleberry groupies. I say let him go for it, it will only divide them more. This has been today’s edition of “I don’t know WTF these republicans are thinking”. Brought to you by a little raindrop of blue :)

  4. Bee Says:

Yeah, I think Jess nailed that one, he thinks he’s going to run teh repube ticket in 2012. If he doesn’t have a heart attack and keel over first.

Ah, the greening of Newt Gingrich. Hey, it worked for David Duke (Not).
