I Understand, But I Disagree

Brad has folded up and gone.  He explains his reasoning here:

I’ve defended Democrats on this blog for too long. In my opinion the Democrats currently in both houses of Congress (with some notable exceptions) are not part of the solution; they have only so far furthered the same old problems. I can no longer with good conscience defend them as a group.

I also remain convinced that such broad-based blogging about politics is useless without a massive net to cast. I don’t have that. Big ideas were my focus, and big ideas are what are for some reason incompatible with this modern political state. This has never turned out to be quite what I wanted it to be, and that’s okay with me. It’s time to move on.

I understand his anger; I don’t think there’s a one of us who doesn’t share it.  But I think Brad is wrong about casting the big net; what we see are tens of thousands of nets intertwined, and they are making a difference. We are bringing news front and center that our Chimpromised media refuses to touch. They can go right on covering the activities of Lindsay Lohan 24/7 as far as I’m concerned, because there are plenty of us that obsessively scan non-MSM news sites and bring the REAL news of the day front and center.

I also don’t agree with just letting the go-along dems get by with their continued enabling of the moronic monkey. Every single member of the House is due for a Primary run in 2008, and a good many Senators are. We know who’s been playing footsie with the moronic monkey, and it’s way past time that we started punishing people for not doing what we sent them to do. As a resident of the District of “Junket John” Boehner, I can’t punish any of the spineless dems. But I’m betting quite a few of you can. Let’s get to it; the dem who goes along with Chimpy is worse, in my opinion, than the Gopper who rubber-stamped his every wish. They need to be gone, and that needs to happen in the Primary cycle. It will send a powerful message to the dems who remain if a few of the go-along gang gets knocked off. Put them in your crosshairs, and go down to the polls.

I regret that Brad has stopped watching the national scene, and I certainly wish him the best in the endeavor he’s decided to take up. But I ain’t quitting, and I hope you don’t either.

I can understand Brad’s frustration, we all feel it. I never thought of my blog as doing a service to bring out news…I only put up my opinions on the news that’s already out there, and my opinions aren’t really worth all that much.

I agree with you, JR. The main stream media aren’t going to put out the news or spread it, the blogs are doing that. In fact, the main stream media are terrified of the blogs. Some of them are using a portion of their broadcasts to cover blog news.

Many of our blogs are small and may only get a few comments everyday, but we have plenty who are reading. Many of them are from all around the world. I think it’s better to show those in other parts of the world that Americans are fighting against the Bush regime. They’re watching the upcoming election carefully and hoping that we will oust Bush and his immoral Republican party.

I keep going back and forth on this, but I’ve decided to hang in there.

I agree that the spineless rubber-stamp Dems need to lose their jobs. Let’s work together to get them out and elect true progressives.

    jr…
I agree that we need to dump all the Dem’s who have been enabling Der Fuhrer Bush. Schumer is one of them as he help Judas Iscariot Leiberman come up with the independent run that kept him in office.

I understand though about getting tired over nothing being done by those who should be honoring their oath to uphold the Constitution. There have been many High Crimes and Misdemeanors committed the Der Fuhrer and the Dark Lord and still can not fathom why they won’t impeach these bastards before they take us into World War III when they attack Iran.

With monitoring phone calls, emails and computer or letters wrote by the Peoples Representatives, along with the power to arrest them by labeling them Enemy Combatants I always thought that they were afraid for their lives.

Now I have my doubts about that. If there are elections and I don’t believe there will be, will the Democrats resind the Patriot Act, MCA of 2006 and the signing statements along with executive orders that strip our freedoms and Democracy from us or will they keep them and use them against us?

That is the lingering question I wonder about daily. Do we have to have another Revolution to return our Country back to what our forefathers left for us or are we doomed to a long bloody dictatorship?

I guess we will all know soon enough.

    God Bless.

I’m with you there, JR. I started getting fed up with the Dems about March or April. We need to totally clean house. The few good ones will have to be considered ‘collateral damage’. These people need to realize that they represent the people; all the people, not just the wealthy people.

What price does one put on one’s very soul?

  5. ascap_scab Says:

The thing is that we need to discriminate between the good Dems and the bad Dems. Thankfully, the Senators and Representatives do that themselves in choosing which coalitions they join.

    Bad
Blue Dogs = Often have racist/Jesusistani tendencies, Republican enablers.

    Democratic Leadership Council/New Democrats = Pro-business/anti-union, pro-war, pro-Military-Industrial complex.

    Good
Congressional Progressive Caucus = Fairness for all.

The Concord Coalition = Promoting fiscal responsibility in government.

Out Of Iraq Congressional Caucus = Get out of Iraq, now!!

    I feel his pain completely.

JR: although I agree on principle with your post, there is something that has to be taken into account here. For instance, you wrote:

“They can go right on covering the activities of Lindsay Lohan 24/7 as far as I’m concerned, because there are plenty of us that obsessively scan non-MSM news sites and bring the REAL news of the day front and center”

That is true. However, out of the whole number of eligible voters, what is the actual proportion which gets its “real” news from blogs and the blogosphere, instead of the MSM?

Far too few in between, I’m afraid.

Consequently, what is the actual impact of the blogosphere in informing acurately the electorate?

    Little – unfortunately enough.

That is why I agree strongly with Brad’s concept of the necessity of casting a wider net …

    ;-)

  8. JollyRoger Says:

Mentarch, we’re casting a wider net every day. MSM viewership is FALLING. Those people are going somewhere.

  9. Mentarch Says:

Aye – but I’ve heard that where they go is still the talk-radios and local tv news … :-(

  10. JollyRoger Says:

Talk isn’t all bad. Big Eddie and Randi Rhodes are burning up the airwaves a lot of places. Eddie is more popular than Oxy-Moron in his home market.
