WE’D Be Better Off, For Sure

The idiots who back secession for Georgia are either too stupid to realize how quickly separation from the Federal tit would turn Georgia into a third-world hellhole, or they are so determined to set up a racist theocracy that they simply do not CARE.
The rest of the country would immediately reap the many benefits of no longer having to deal with wack job Rushpublican elected officials at a Federal level. We’d also be able to keep some of the money that flows that way, but a border program would soon have to be instituted to staunch the certain flow of refugees.
When asked if Georgia would be better off as an independent nation or as part of the United States, 43 percent of Republicans in the state selected independent nation, according to a poll published Friday.
A majority of Georgia Republicans — 52 percent — sided with the United States in a Research 2000 poll commissioned by DailyKos.
Asked, “Would you approve or disapprove of Georgia leaving the United States?” 32 percent of Georgia Republicans said they would approve.
State wide, just 27 percent think Georgia would be better off independent of the U.S. and a mere 18 percent would approve of secession.
The General Assembly of Georgia recently passed Senate Resolution 632 in support of the state sovereignty movement, by a vote of 43-1; an act Atlanta writer Jay Bookman characterized as accidentally threatening the state’s ties to the United States.
“In fact, Senate Resolution 632 did a lot more than merely threaten to end this country,” he wrote. “It stated that under the Constitution, the only crimes the federal government could prosecute were treason, piracy and slavery.
“’Therefore, all acts of Congress which assume to create, define or punish [other] crimes … are altogether void, and of no force,’ the Georgia Senate declared.”
“Finally, the resolution states that if Congress, the president or federal courts take any action that exceeds their constitutional powers, the Constitution is rendered null and void and the United States of America is officially disbanded. …
“Now, to be fair, the resolution passed because it was snuck unnoticed onto the Senate resolution calendar on the 39th day of the 40-day legislative session, when senators were trying to handle dozens of bills and scores of amendments. Most did not have an opportunity to read the six-page resolution, which in its description claimed to merely affirm ’states’ rights based on Jeffersonian principles.”
In Texas, where Gov. Rick Perry recently made comments many interpreted to be friendly toward secessionist politics, a Rasmussen poll found just 18 percent of his constituents would vote to secede from the United States were such a ballot ever put forward. Just 31 percent of the poll’s respondents believe that Texas even has the right to leave the Union.
There’s got to be some way to accommodate these idiots. Maybe we could require Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho to give up territory to them for their dreamed-of Jesusistan? Or perhaps we could ship them off to Caribou Barbie’s Alaska, and let them play in the sandbox there?
No, alaska is beautiful, I”ll take it for myself if noone else wants it.
Let them have Texas…it’s big enough, there’s not much there, the oil wells are dry…and it’s right by Mexico, so they can get overrun by the drug lords and then come with their tails between their legs looking for help.
Georgia will soon enough be dry itself, only it’s the water they’re about to run out of.
Once it happens, will they claim THAT as some kind of Divine retribution?
I am not from Georgia. I have never lived in Georgia. I have no real desire to live in Georgia. If Georgia attempted to secede from the USA, I would happily kill people help ensure their success.
Every time secession is brought up, one of the first noises you hear is the snide attempt a intimidation, “Well, we all know what happened the last time a state tried to leave The Family, nice state you have here, it would be a shame to wreck it,” etc., etc. Well, allow me to retort. I will militantly support any serious secessionist movement in this country. It is a basic inalienable right.
Some would call such talk as this treasonous. Fine. I am a traitor, and considering who calls me so, it is a label I wear gladly. Make the most of that.
Johnny, this is the wrong place to pick that fight. I realize that there are legitimate grievances against the overreach of the Federal Government, and I believe that the contract with the States has been violated, especially between the years of 2001 to 2009. But I also see the separation of church and state to be sacred, and I believe very much in the 14th Amendment. The Klanservatives have no right to step on either thing.
So the Feds have no right to prosecute bad guys in Georgia. That’s okay with me. They just put a very big “rob me” sign on their back. Now out-of-state corporations and Madoffs of the world can steal Georgians blind. The State doesn’t have the reach to get them and the Feds can’t interfere. Suckers.
I agree. They could use some modern-day carpetbaggers down that way…
