HEIL Cheney! A couple of weeks ago, the disgraced sociopathic coward Dick Cheney said that President Obama’s directive banning torture would make Americans “less safe.” In bits and pieces, we’re finding out more about what Cheney’s torture programs netted us in terms of useful information. Let’s look at what Cheney says, put it against what we know to be true, and see how it adds up.

Investigators have known it for hundreds of years. Police agencies the world over stopped using it decades ago, except those run by brutal tin-pot dictators who aim to scare the populace. The reason nobody uses torture to obtain information is well-known; torturing someone is far more likely to extract what the victim thinks you want to hear than it is to extract any useful information. But facts and logic never stopped a sociopathic piece of shit like Dick Cheney from indulging in that which gives him the woody. I know Dick is stupid, but is he really so stupid that he thought that we’d actually get something useful from brutalizing people?

If this report is to be believed, he’s that stupid. I dunno; I’m still thinking that this was mostly about him making himself feel like a man, something he’s obviously had a lot of trouble with his whole miserable, useless life.

When CIA officials subjected their first high-value captive, Abu Zubaida, to waterboarding and other harsh interrogation methods, they were convinced that they had in their custody an al-Qaeda leader who knew details of operations yet to be unleashed, and they were facing increasing pressure from the White House to get those secrets out of him.

The methods succeeded in breaking him, and the stories he told of al-Qaeda terrorism plots sent CIA officers around the globe chasing leads.

In the end, though, not a single significant plot was foiled as a result of Abu Zubaida’s tortured confessions, according to former senior government officials who closely followed the interrogations. Nearly all of the leads attained through the harsh measures quickly evaporated, while most of the useful information from Abu Zubaida — chiefly names of al-Qaeda members and associates — was obtained before waterboarding was introduced, they said.

Moreover, within weeks of his capture, U.S. officials had gained evidence that made clear they had misjudged Abu Zubaida. President George W. Bush had publicly described him as “al-Qaeda’s chief of operations,” and other top officials called him a “trusted associate” of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and a major figure in the planning of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. None of that was accurate, the new evidence showed.

Abu Zubaida was not even an official member of al-Qaeda, according to a portrait of the man that emerges from court documents and interviews with current and former intelligence, law enforcement and military sources. Rather, he was a “fixer” for radical Muslim ideologues, and he ended up working directly with al-Qaeda only after Sept. 11 — and that was because the United States stood ready to invade Afghanistan.

So he said what they needed to hear before they beat the hell out of him, and made shit up after they started beating and waterboarding him. How SHOCKING this is! What were our Founders thinking when they banned “cruel and unusual punishment” anyway?

A lot of people like to compare Cheney to Hitler, but I don’t think that’s fair-to Hitler. Yes, Cheney and Hitler are/were both sadistic sociopaths, and they both without a shred of doubt approved of some of the most evil and inhumane acts ever recorded in human history-but Hitler, at least, had the guts to go onto a battlefield. The yellow-backed coward Cheney got himself 5 draft deferments and then knocked his wife up to make sure he didn’t go anywhere near any shooting. There are those who would argue that Hitler was responsible for far more human death and misery, and they would be right-but I ask you to consider not the QUANTITY of the acts of these two lumps of waste, but the QUALITY of them. I see very little difference in Hitler and Cheney, besides the fact that Hitler was not a coward, and Cheney most certainly is one.

And yet, there are still Americans that admire this stupid, sadistic piece of shit. That is beyond baffling to me.
