Now, We Can Honor Them
The Chimpy policy (begun by his daddy) of sneaking the dead from American wars back into the country had nothing to do with “privacy,” as the monkey and his Poppy framed it, and everything to do with keeping Americans from growing uneasy over the number of body bags coming back from those wars. Those lapel-pin “patriots” won’t serve, don’t want to be asked to pay for any part of this war they all insist is more important than World War II, and sure as hell don’t want to see any flag-draped reminders of their own heartless cowardice. The Armed Forces are largely comprised of people from “forgotten” socioeconomic circumstances, and Chimpy and his ‘tard worshipers want to keep them that way-forgotten. Ship ‘em back, and drop ‘em in a hole, and do it while attracting as little notice as possible.
I laud the decision Defense Secretary Gates made today to allow us all to honor our war dead, and also to acknowledge in public the terrible price so many have paid for Chimpy’s Oedipal Crusade on Iraq, as well as his incompetent mishandling of the Afghani conflict. The wingtards will hate it, of course, because seeing the dead come home drives home the costs of war, and makes more war less likely. That, of course, is anathema both th the ‘tards, and to people like Chimpy and his cronies, who have profited handsomely from the war that Chimpy started. I’d like to see an actual profit-per-head that corporations like KBR have made for every dead soldier in Iraq. I am sure it would sicken me.
Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates announced today he is lifting a 1991 ban on news coverage of the return of the remains of fallen service members to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware and will let families decide whether to allow coverage.
The controversial ban on photography and other media coverage of the solemn return of flag-draped coffins — upheld by both Republican and Democratic administrations — has generated lawsuits as well as conflicting emotions on the part of military families.
“After receiving input from a number of sources, including all of the military services and the organizations representing military families, I have decided that the decision regarding media coverage of the dignified transfer process at Dover should be made by those most directly affected: on an individual basis by the families of the fallen,” Gates told reporters at a briefing at the Pentagon this afternoon. “We ought not presume to make that decision in their place.”
Gates said he is asking a group of advisers to come up with a plan on how to implement the new policy.
He said that Pentagon officials had been in touch with groups that represent military families about the policy change and that “the reaction we got from the organizations associated with the families strongly reinforced the decision of where I was headed.”
Paul Rieckhoff, executive director of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, applauded the decision, according to the Associated Press. “The sight of flag-draped coffins is, and should be, a sobering reminder to all Americans of the ultimate sacrifice our troops have made and the high price of our freedom,” he said.
But Meghan Tisinger, a spokeswoman for Families United, a military family group, said, “This is a complete disregard for the will of America’s military families and the need for their privacy during this solemn moment,” AP reported.
Meghan Tisinger is, to put it bluntly, a liar, as decisions about photographs are still largely left up to family members. When I saw this, I immediately started trying to find out more on this Meghan Tisinger, also understanding exactly what it was I was going to find out. Thankfully, “Jumpy Pants” over at Bob Cesca’s fine site has done my work for me, and here you can find out who Meghan is-and what she’s been up to…
So you probably know that the President has lifted the ban on press and cameras at Dover Air Force Base. Great news, right? Finally, after over 8 years, we are admitting through imagery, which is far more potent that words, that this war is killing and maiming thousands upon thousands of Americans.
But Meghan Tisinger’s not happy about it.
From the AP, via TPM:
“This is a complete disregard for the will of America’s military families and the need for their privacy during this solemn moment,” said Meghan Tisinger, spokeswoman for Families United for Our Troops and Their Mission. How could Meghan Tisinger dish out this mendacious slop and believe that anyone would actually buy it? Who, I wondered, is Meghan Tisinger? The Google tube would have me to understand that she shares the name (including the post-g “h”) of a Meghan Tisinger who was a spokesperson for defeated GOP Congressman/convicted drunk driver Randy Kuhl. And this isn’t the first time Meghan Tisinger has spoken out as a spokesperson regarding the Iraq war and the troops. Follow me after the jump for more about the mysterious Meghan Tisinger!
So according to the Washington Post, it seems that a couple of years ago, Rep. Kuhl was getting a lot of war protesters outside his office. And the Congressman, who once pulled two shotguns on his wife at a dinner party and threatened to shoot her (this was in 1994, three years before he was busted and convicted of drunk driving, and before he divorced the target of his shotgun aim — ah, family values!), said that in response to all these anti-war protesters he had:
“thought about packing” Packing, as in heat. Meaning, his response to anti-war protesters was to start carrying guns in case, you know, one of these people who wanted to stop the war needed to, uh, get shot. By Randy. So this gets reported, and Randy dispatches his spokesperson to throw some water on the fire he’s started, and that spokesperson is, yes, Meghan Tisinger!
And man, does she deliver:
“That comment was taken way out of context,” the spokeswoman, Meghan Tisinger, told the Sleuth. She said when Congressman Kuhl told the Democrat and Chronicle editorial board that he had “thought about packing” – he was just joking. (Get a sense of humor, people!) “It was one of those sarcastic, offhanded comments,” she said.
Plus, Tisinger explained, Kuhl was joking about arming himself in the context of increased security on Capitol Hill in light of the approaching anniversary of 9/11.
Shooting Iraq war protestors? HILARIOUS! See, it was just a JOKE! Like when he pulled those shotguns on his wife and threatened to shoot her! A JOKE! And I guess the judge in the divorce proceedings didn’t get the gag, but really, it was a JOKE! Oh, and also, this comedic genius Kuhl is so fucking HILARIOUS he can loop in a reference to the HILARITY of 9/11!
But if we didn’t have Meghan Tisinger to stand up for the families of dead troops/interpret the comic stylings of shotgun-wielding drunk Randy Kuhl, we’d all be in the dark, thinking it was good to tell the truth about dead troops and it was bad to threaten unarmed pacifists and/or wives.
Thanks, Meghan Tisinger!
There’s a BIG surprise, huh? Meghan Tisinger is another paid-for wingtard hack apologist, spreading the lies that her kind just love to repeat. Look for her to be quoted often as a “military family spokesperson” throughout the wingtard blogosphere.

What a difference an election makes when one tyrant tries to hide the effects of his forever war, while one who seeks peace wants to show the results to prevent a further spreading of this disease called war.

You guys might want to check out the HBO documentary that followed the “Straight Talk Express” during the campaing. I don’t know the name. I was in a hotel in VA and didn’t see the beginning.
It was full of folks like these guys, and a lot worse. Amazing shit in our day in age. I’m not a supporter of the main parties, but the folks in this video are not Americans in my view. They would tell you that Obama is hiding the war dead, causing the depression, and destroying the nation. He might in the future, but the folks in the video should at least give him the chance to actually do it before they blame him. Also, the racism is totally unleashed. Very unsettling.
JR, you will want to post a link. I’m moving, so I just don’t have the time. Sorry for the ambiguity, Amigo. Hasta la vista!
