Even the Goppers Are Getting Fed Up

Most of us who aren’t brain dead have long been sick to death of the racism, the sexism, the lies, and the willful ignorance of the talking heads of wingnut radio. People all over the political spectrum have reacted angrily to Ann Cuntler’s tirades, but the wingnut talkers haven’t felt any heat from Gopper politicians. That’s understandable; in years past, Oxy-Moron and Slanthead had such huge followings that one could easily torpedo his or her own career by taking them on.

In recent years, of course, things have changed a good bit. Oxy-Moron bled off a lot of listeners when they found out that he’s a junkie and a pedophile. And all of them in general have suffered ratings drops as their paeans about how great Chimpy is have been refuted by the worsening conditions of anything touched by the moronic monkey, here and abroad. Since the liar-slaves of the Chimpleton Realm have declined in influence, more and more Goppers are feeling more confident about taking them on.

This exchange between Slanthead and George Voinovich gives you an idea of the degree of frustration the traditional moderates have with the Chimpleton talking heads. I would say that it’s way too early to predict that the Gopper politicians in general will finally reject these bottom feeders (especially given the tendency of corporations like Clear Channel to keep them on the air no matter how bad their ratings have become,) but I do hope to see more people standing up and rejecting these scumbags. Especially Slanthead, who doesn’t have drug addiction as an excuse for his slimy, lying behavior. As far as I know, anyway.

If you want some truth with your talk radio, check this guy out. You’ll just love the difference.

Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS) said recently that “talk radio is running America” and that “we have to deal with that problem.” Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said “hate radio” has hijacked the political discourse with its “xenophobic, anti-immigrant” rhetoric.

Yesterday, Sen. George Voinovich (R-OH) released his frustration in a “hate radio” interview with Sean Hannity. “A lot of radio programs have really got out there and fired this thing up,” Voinovich said of the immigration debate. “And so people are really hot about it. And I’m getting calls from people that basically are intimidating me.” Voinovich told Hannity:

I’ve had people back home because of programs like yours said to me if you vote for this bill, it’s the end of your political career. I just want you to know and I want everybody else to know that you do not intimidate George Voinovich.

Fed up with Hannity’s efforts to turn the interview into a right-wing commentary, Voinovich lashed out, “I really don’t think it’s worthy to talk to you right now because you’ve got your mind made up.” Hannity then turned on Voinovich, telling him, “You’re running away because you can’t answer a simple question. … Oh, so I’m irrational because I disagree with you? You’re a mighty senator, ok I get it.” Voinovich then hung up.

UPDATE: The right is outraged over Voinovich. Hot Air says he humiliated himself. KLo writes, “At least he didn’t cry.” Radio Equalizer asks, “How did these elected officials get so out of touch with reality?” And FrontPage calls him “Senator Embarrassment.”

You should read one of the defenses for she who must not be named. A drive by smear, my ass. I’ve never been able to handle talk radio or what passes for MTP nowadays. Thank goodness for the internet.

    Deb,
Good Lord. This is desperation at its worst. They’d apparently deny it if Cuntler infested them all with crabs.
