From “Thinking” to “Thoughtful”

Our cup seems to runneth over today.

We have been identified as a thoughtful blogger by one of the most thoughtful of them all, TomCat at Politics Plus. His was one of the links I made sure to lug over first when I restarted this blog with its new format.

The description for this award is as follows, lifted from the pages of Politics Plus.

For those who answer blog comments, emails, and make their visitors feel at home on their blogs. For the people who take others feelings into consideration before speaking out and who are kind and courteous. Also for all of those bloggers who spend so much of their time helping others bloggers design, improve, and fix their sites. This award is for those generous bloggers who think of others.

Virus Head is one of the most gracious people I’ve encountered in my years of blogging. She has a gentle patience that almost makes me feel bad for the chainsaw approach I take to some of my more notable commenters. I DON’T feel bad, of course, but seeing her way stops me dead in my tracks from time to time.

Lydia Cornell and her able fill-in Larry also both deserve this nod. I know Lydia has more important things to do than respond to the venomous rantings of an angry hillbilly, but she does. Larry, I am sure you’ve seen as a frequent commenter here as well. Lydia even took it upon herself to defend myself and larry from a pissy little comment on her site the other night-an act of graciousness that was noted and appreciated (but unlikely to be repeated if commenter was ever to come over to my house and play :) )

Reclaiming Space also deserves this award. Ann El Khoury is very, very in depth, and she will patiently break it down for you if (like me) you don’t quite absorb it on the first go-round.

The Invisible Woman aims at the head and heart at the same time, and she WILL get you if you give her a try. Such intelligence and graciousness together!

Debsweb is another most gracious host. Exchanging tales of ChimpyWorld as it relates to her-and you-makes you feel almost like you’re talking to your sister. I love her. You will too.

Suzie-Q is smart and fun at the same time, the cousin from across the country that you only see occasionally-but get psyched up about when you know she’s coming your way.

And I end this with a hat tip to someone who I have always felt a kinship with-on many of the issues of the day, we are almost as one. Here’s saluting my sister of the spirit (even though she says that spirit stuff is the bunk) Micki at Mixter’s Mix.

Now y’all have had me mellow all day, which isn’t what I do. I don’t do mellow; I strip flesh. I’m going to go sharpen my knives now and return shortly.

I’m truly flattered, JR! Thanks for that nod.

  2. Larry Says:

Thank you for giving Lydia Cornell the nod and for your kind words Jolly.

Congrats on your award as well.

  3. anon paranoid Says:

May I too congratulate you on your award.

    God Bless.

  4. Ann Says:

Jolly, congratulations on this nice recognition (thoroughly deserved) and I am as pleased as punch for this nod from you — thank you! I’ll write up a post around this shortly. Cheers

  5. Mixter Says:

JR, the feeling is mutual! Congrats, and thanks for the hat tip (is it made of tin foil?)

JR, that was an embarrassing moment for me, because when I received the award, you were the first person I thought of, and then I mistakenly left you off the post and had to update it. :-(

When I first came to your old digs and was attending funerals and giving the cat a bath, while waiting for the next message to load, I posted a comment about the problem, and you were in touch by email within 24 hours explaining the problem and trying to help. See why I thought of you first? :-)

    This was well deserved.

If you’re interested in fantasy football stop by.

    Congrats all around!

    Invisible,

I really, really appreciate your “way.”

    anon,

We’re recent acquaintances, but I was laughing so hard over the “BFF” reference I hurt.

    Ann,

How could anyone who has ever seen Reclaiming Space not associate it with “thoughtful?”

    Micki,

You and me, we know each other. ‘Nuff said.

    TomCat,

Those were trying times. I had already decided to try to replace it, but my beta runs weren’t doing what I wanted them to do. Wordpress became the one I couldn’t break this time, so I loaded it. I apologize for the coughing and wheezing of my former blog (which i also fixed after the switchover :) ) However, I don’t do football anymore-as a Cincinnati area resident, it’s hard enough keeping up with what jail what Bengal is in this weekend.

    Lynn,

Thank you. You too are a most gracious host, but there are so many and I have to pare them down somehow :(

  9. Deb Says:

    JR,
Thank you, you really are sweet. It’s a shame that I just left a nasty reply to someone on my blog, but I really do hate fearful leader so I snapped before thinking. I will try to be more deserving in the future.

Thanks so much for the mention – nice to know somebody notices or cares that I try to be civil and understanding (even when provoked). I don’t always succeed. It’s tempting to give in to wicked wit – it’s fun. I’ve understood though that people are at all kinds of levels, and I guess the urge to teach is usually stronger. You have to take people where they are to get anywhere… if it’s worth bothering at all.

    Much appreciated.
