There've been studies too showing the lack of mobility between classes here. seems to be a cornerstone of thinking in the US, that anyone who wants to work hard can rise up and become rich. leaving aside the morality of anyone "needing" to be rich, that type of thing is only slightly less likely that the chance of winning the lottery or playing in the NBA.
